DHI PlumeCast¶

Introduction¶
DHI PlumeCast is a browser-based interface designed for setting up and executing model runs, specifically tailored to simulate sediment spills or environmental outfalls. DHI PlumeCast facilitates the assessment of potential environmental impacts and offers a transparent platform for stakeholder engagement.
DHI PlumeCast can be used to support environmental impact assessments required for obtaining approvals, optimising dredging strategies, screen potential impacts under different scenarios, evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation measures, and forecast spill plumes during operations to enable proactive impact management.
Scenario types¶
You can create two types of scenarios:
- Sediment Scenario: Various dredging and disposal activities can be defined to simulate the dispersion and deposition of sediment spill from them.
- Ecological Scenario: Various types of contaminants can be defined to be released via outfalls and discharge points, to simulate the dispersion and dilution of them.
Access to each type of scenario requires its own License arrangements.
Planning vs. operational mode¶
In planning mode, the models have pre-defined and fixed periods (i.e., hindcast). In the operational mode the models constantly get updated with the latest forecast on hydrodynamics.
Live Data¶
It provides access to live data from hydrography and water quality sensors, as well as daily satellite images from project site and positioning of dredgers and other vessels active in the project. Access to Live Data requires its own License arrangement.
